90 Hudson

90 Hudson Street, Manhattan, New York, The United States of America

MABU Architecture LLC

Located at 90 Hudson Street in Manhattan, this studio renovation was designed for an artist who also owns the neighboring unit. With sweeping views of the World Trade Center, the space is thoughtfully divided into a projection/work zone and a tranquil tea room for reading and reflection. A custom green cabinet with perforated panels subtly separates the two areas while maintaining visual continuity and openness. A movable wood desk supports the client’s creative process, and a newly framed wood doorway—one of the project’s key design elements—creates a visual axis between the kitchen and studio. Despite the challenge of two exposed plumbing pipes in the kitchen, we embraced their presence by wrapping them in matching green perforated panels, transforming them into sculptural, column-like features that echo the aesthetic of the studio.
